A Word from the
TRR Chairman Kathy Hyatt:

12/10/2011

WOW, it’s hard to believe that the holidays are in full swing. It seems like only a few weeks ago that we got together in Victoria for a fun weekend of sharing cuttings and plants. Of course the highlight was the opportunity to visit with each other and also explore gardens and nurseries in the area. It was unusually hot on that Saturday but despite heat, wind and mosquitoes, we had a great time. Our thanks go out to Jerome and Mary Janak for all they did to set up the wonderful program we all enjoyed!

Finally we’ve gotten some rain and with that, along with cooler temperatures, the roses in my garden have responded by blooming profusely. I’m absolutely amazed by the size of these fall blooms and the intense fragrance. I wonder if you’ve had the same experience in your garden? I know a freeze is expected this week and hope that it doesn’t knock off all the blooms. I’ve gotten quite used to bringing in a small bouquet every time I walk through the garden. Who knows maybe I’ll still have some roses for the Christmas dinner table?! Now, that would be a real gift!

Happy Holidays to All…Enjoy and be safe!
Kathy
